Thanks to scientific research over the years there are now a number of different methods of contraception (birth control) for women to choose from, however, even with all the very clever modern methods now available to them women must be aware that the only sure way of preventing pregnancy is to abstain from sexual intercourse. That course of action is of course out of the question for most women, and at some time in their lives they need to find the right form of contraception to reduce the risk of an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy.

The different methods currently available include, barrier methods, hormonal methods, emergency contraception, intrauterine methods, and sterilization. Not all contraceptive methods are right for every situation, as a variety of factors, including the number of sexual partners, medical history, and desire for children in the future will come into play.

Barrier methods

Barrier methods are designed to prevent the sperm from entering the uterus, thus fertilizing an egg. All barrier methods are removable and are an option for women who may not be able to use intrauterine or hormonal methods. The different types of barrier methods include, female condoms, male condoms, diaphragms, cervical caps, contraceptive sponges, and spermicides. Both male and female condoms are disposable after one use and also help to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. Diaphragms and cervical caps must be obtained from a doctor.

Hormonal methods

Hormonal methods of contraception help to regulate or stop ovulation completely, which would in turn prevent pregnancy. Ovulation is the natural process in which the ovary releases an egg – if there is no egg to fertilize, pregnancy will not occur. Hormones are introduced into the body through injections, skin patches, gels, vaginal rings, intrauterine systems, implantable rods, and most commonly, the birth control pill. Depending on the type of hormone, these methods can prevent ovulation but will also thicken cervical mucus and thin the lining of the uterus. Women who smoke, are over 35, or have a history of certain disease should avoid hormonal methods.

Intrauterine methods

Intrauterine methods involve the implantation of an IUD, or intrauterine device, into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. A doctor will insert the device, which is a small, t-shaped or rod-shaped implement, into the uterus and it can remain in place, working effectively, for many years. When a woman no longer needs the contraception or the recommended time has elapsed, the doctor must also remove it. Today, there are copper IUDs and hormonal IUDs. Women interested may talk to their doctor to buy Mirena, but should avoid an IUD if they have a history of cervical or uterine cancer, unexplained vaginal bleeding, or pelvic tuberculosis.

Sterilization

Sterilization is the most extreme form of contraception and is permanent. Sterilization will prevent a woman from becoming pregnant or a man from releasing any live sperm. A doctor must perform the procedure, which is small surgery in most cases, though women also have the option of receiving a sterilization implant directly into the fallopian tubes. This ultimate form of contraception is not recommended for anyone who might want to have children in the future as in most cases it is irreversible.

The Hippie Trail was a watershed moment for some back in the sixties and seventies. It represented freedom, adventure, enlightenment, and experimentation. It offered what young people in many generations found exciting: exotic locations, communal living, brief but meaningful encounters, and memories that would last a lifetime.

A route well taken by flower children and Western wanderers, it spread overland from Europe to Southeast Asia. Although the Hippie Trail wasn’t a set path, the typical trek started in London or Amsterdam. A good place to begin retracing the Hippie Trail is in Istanbul. Considered the point where Asia and Europe both begin and end, it was the first place where many on the Hippie Trail converged. To head to Turkey, Pegasus airline tickets are offered at affordable prices from various cities all over Europe.

During the journey, there were several spots where the travelers flocked: Lale Pastahanesi, Freak Street, and Amir Kabir Hostel.

Lale Pastahanesi
A popular meeting spot in Istanbul was a pastry shop in Istanbul called Lale Pastahanesi or The Pudding Shop. It was a gathering place as well as an eatery. Opened in 1957, the Pudding Shop was famous for being the only location where the hippies could get direct transportation to Asia. It garnered the name Pudding Shop because foreigners couldn’t remember the name Lale Restaurant, but they knew of the restaurant’s extensive selection of puddings. The owners, Idris (nicknamed “Father” by the hippies) and Namik Çolpan, set up the bulletin board that solidified the shop’s status as a message hub for the hippies. They also owned “magic buses,” tour buses that would travel East to Nepal, Bhutan, and Afghanistan.

Freak Street
A second place was Freak Street in Kathmandu. Originally named Jhhonchen Tole, it was called Freak Street because the hippies referred to themselves as “freaks.” It had taverns, hotels, and shops for low-budget travelers. One of the most popular shops on Freak Street was the Eden Hashish Centre. During that time, ganga, or hashish, was legal in Nepal. However, in 1973, Richard Nixon threatened to remove foreign aid from Nepal unless marijuana was made illegal. Consequently, the government shut the Eden Hashish Centre down the next year. Ironically, it has since been transformed into a bank.

Amir Kabir Hostel
Amir Kabir Hostel was the traditional place to stay in Tehran. It occupied two floors above a tire shop. For sixty rials, about one dollar, you had a bed for the night. According to the trail’s first guidebook, Across Asia On The Cheap, it was “dirty, only one sheet per bed, but at the very heart of the soulless, tinsel and glitter Coca-Cola City.” It was a far cry from most of the hostels of today.

The foreign exchange market used to be the playground of central banks, corporate treasurers, large banks and hedge funds only. But now, retail investors represent about 8 percent of the daily traded volume (compared to only 1 percent 10 years ago according to the Aite Group). The growth is accompanied by the flourishing of the Internet and online forex trading platforms. This is exciting news for retail investors like you. However, big opportunities come with a set of risks. With education, practise, reasonable expectations and evaluations, currency trading can be profitable and exciting. First, let’s review several characteristics of the forex market.

Unique Features of the Forex Market

Currency trading happens not in the centralised exchanges but “over-the-counter” (OTC). Therefore, it is important to choose the right counter party to trade based on agreeable credit terms. The market trades continuously during the weekdays and has tremendous liquidity, offering traders the flexibility to place and execute trades. As currencies are quoted in one relative to another, you can bet on the appreciation of the base currency as easily as you can bet on its depreciation. Also, there are only eight major currency pairs to focus on. Insider trading does not exist in the forex market as the market is very fluid and efficient. Unlike securities markets, which are constrained by the market capitalization, forex markets allow traders to place “unlimited” bet size and use a much bigger leverage, as high as 100 to 1.

Brace Yourself with Knowledge

There are two basic approaches to forex trading. Fundamental analysis involves the understanding of economic factors such as interest rates, inflation, economic growth, the balance of payments and central banks’ interventions that can influence the relative strengths of the currencies. Traders need to be on top of the daily economic data releases that can swing the currencies. Technical analysis involves using charts and tools to analyse the past price movements and patterns to determine the direction of the currency. Traders’ positioning is a critical factor as well. Which approaches to choose will depend on your style, time frame and information availability. The important thing is to pick a currency pair or two and learn everything about the factors driving theses currencies.

Lock in Your Hours

Assuming you are now familiar with the jargon of the forex market, is it time for you to jump in with real money? Not necessarily. Forex trading rule number one: trade with fake money first. Fortunately, your forex brokers can offer you one of the best education tools, a forex demo account, for you to be familiar with the trading platform, practise and re-evaluate your trading strategies without losing a single penny. Experts recommend new traders to practise in a simulated trading environment for up to six months before going live. With enough time, you can experience the various rounds of economic and political happenings to see how your currencies react. The demo version will typically show you how to read the price quotes, enter trades, place stops and limits and check your account balances. Often, the platform is integrated with charts, analytical tools and market news to help you to configure your strategies, the amount of risks you want to take, and how long you want to stay in the trade. In other words, the forex demo account helps you to determine what types of trading will suit you the best.

Trade with Realistic Expectations

Trading with fake money is different from trading with real money because you do not experience a true sense of loss, or your $100,000 profits make you over-confident in your trading, thus causing you to lose big in real accounts. So, it is very important to limit your trading capital in the virtual account to what you can afford to lose as if you were trading with real money. Expect to lose in your initial trades and do not get frustrated or chase bad money with good. Constantly evaluate what works and what doesn’t and why. Beware that price quotes may look a little different in live trading while trading slippages can often occur in real accounts.

The key is, even after trading live, try to go back to demo accounts to re-test your strategies. Although there is no guaranteed profits in trading, experienced traders will agree that to be successful in live trading, you first have to make money in forex demo accounts.

Although deafness is actually rather common (with more than 5 per cent of people worldwide suffering from disabling hearing loss, and roughly one in every thousand people being completely deaf), your average person still knows surprisingly little about the condition.

A lack of knowledge about a subject will lead to the arising of myths, and the subject of deafness is no exception. Some of these myths can actually be quite offensive to sufferers of hearing loss, so we’re here today to dispel as many as we can.

Education leads to enlightenment, after all.

Myth #1 – All Deaf People Are “Deaf and Dumb”

“Dumb”, if you weren’t aware, means that someone is unable to speak. It is an outdated bit of language, a relic, like “spastic”. Sadly, many people still refer to deaf people as being deaf and dumb.

Yes, a large proportion of deaf people won’t speak – at least not often – but this does not mean that they can’t speak. There is no mental deficiency there, preventing them from talking; the problem lies within the ears, not the brain.

Myth #2 – All Deaf People Are Mute

Similarly to the above point, “mute” means to be physically incapable of speech, such as not having the required vocal apparatus (read: voice box) to produce sounds, or having the area of the brain which controls speech damaged or malfunctioning.

This is simply not the case when it comes to deaf people – although many will not speak, this is done out of choice. Some deaf people have not learned to completely control their voice, because they cannot hear enough to manipulate the sounds properly, and this is often why someone will choose not to speak.

Myth #3 – All Deaf People Use Sign Language

Again, not true. This would be like saying no hearing people use sign language, or that everyone living in Wales speaks Welsh. There are many people who are deaf yet don’t use sign language, whether because they haven’t yet learned or they’ve found little need to.

Some people simply don’t have much exposure to other deaf people, whilst others may become deaf late in life and be unable to pick it up. Look on the internet if you wish to learn; you’re bound to find many a website to teach you, such as British-Sign.

Myth #4 – Deaf People Are Less Intelligent Than Hearing People

This is one of the more offensive myths, and it is just that – a myth. There is a distinct lack of understanding out there in the world, and because deaf people often struggle with speech, this causes many to believe they must be less intelligent.

Sadly, this false belief hurts both career and relationship prospects for any sufferers of deafness. The opportunities are simply not there for them.

Myth #5 – Hearing Aids Fix Everything

Hearing aids can change lives for the better, there is no doubting that. If you are interested in getting a hearing aid, you should visit this website for more information. For many people, going back to a life without hearing aids would be nigh unimaginable.

Although many people do receive vast improvements when using a hearing aid, for some unfortunate people the difference isn’t so grand, and they still have difficulty in making out certain sounds and words, especially in a noisy environment.

This only becomes more difficult if the speaker is looking away, so you should really try to face the person you’re talking to.

Credit cards and mortgages are the worst culprits for collecting debt, but are often unavoidable and necessary burdens. Accumulating debt is not great, but there are ways to make paying them off a little easier, so that your life doesn’t seem to be consumed with debt. That’s where the debt calculator comes in handy.

What are they?
Debt calculators can help keep you posted on if you are on track with your debt repayments. There are a few types of calculators available online that aim to help to help figure out how long it will take to pay off debts, or how much one has to pay per month to pay a debt by a certain date. There are different calculators that work for specific kinds of situations, like credit cards or home mortgages. There are a lot of banks whose websites have debt calculators tailored specifically for the credit cards, loans and mortgages that they offer to help their customers determine how best to pay off their loans within the institution. There are also general, do-it-yourself debt calculators that are customisable to the users’ needs.

Debt Reduction Calculator – Excel
Excel is a good tool to manage finances in general, whether it be keeping track of your expenditure, creating a budget spreadsheet, or managing your debt.

For those unfamiliar with how to use Excel formulas, there is a quick and easy shortcut: a budget planner for Excel. These are easily downloadable from many sites, and generally include three tabs (or worksheets) — Calculator, Payment Schedule and Charts. The Excel budget planner helps manage overall debt by providing space to record the user’s current financial situation, projecting future payments, and allowing customisation options depending on how the user wants to pay off their debt.

Using a simple Excel spreadsheet to lay out your debt management plan is not only beneficial for your own personal records, but it is also a good document to hand over to financial advisors, banks, creditors, and other people with whom you might deal with on a financial level.

Specialised Debt Calculators
Some banks provide debt calculators that are specific to the credit cards, loans and mortgages that they offer, so that the bank’s customers are able to determine how best to manage their debt with the institution. It is also useful for people who are looking for ways to consolidate their debt with the help of a bank.

It is good to have a general financial record for tax purposes, so if you haven’t got an official document of that nature, an Excel file would be ideal for setting one up. Debt calculators set up by banks can be hit-and-miss; while some are genuinely helpful, others can be a bit misleading depending on how they are used. It is best to use a debt calculator in conjunction with a professional financial consultant or a banker.

On the other hand, while the debt reduction calculator on Excel can be useful, it is only as powerful as the person using it. Knowing how to use Excel and mastering certain equations would be handy when using the Excel debt calculator, especially when customising the spreadsheets.

While they no doubt have their place in the world, information from any kind of online calculator should be taken with a grain of salt, and it is really up to the user whether or not to rely on them too heavily. In the end, it is always better to call in the experts to arrange a debt agreement to help you repay your debts in an efficient, timely way.

Melissa Young is a freelance writer who uses Credit Repair to help her with her debt needs.

Regular travelers have an array of credit card options, but this Singapore Airlines card offers some of the best benefits and earning possibilities around. Curious about the perks? Here’s what we love most.

Bonus Miles

You’ll receive KrisFlyer miles for every purchase you make, but the real standout feature is the possibility of earning bonus miles on top of those purchases. Spend just S$5,000 on your card, and American Express will add an extra 50 percent allotment of miles to your account. Spend more than S$12,000, and you’ll receive another 50 percent. It’s a great way for frequent fliers to rack up points on regular travel. Plus, if you purchase your tickets directly from the Singapore Airlines website, you’ll earn double miles on each fare.

Travel Privileges

Frequent globe-trotters often need quick access to travel services, and this card provides just that. As a cardholder, you’ll be eligible for assistance from over 2,000 American Express travel offices in more than 100 countries. What’s more, thousands of Singaporean and international establishments accept the card, so you can carry it with you everywhere you go.

Guaranteed Protections

Worried about unauthorized charges or stolen cards? Singapore Airlines can ease those fears. You’ll never be responsible for fraudulent activity on your account, and you’ll even receive an emergency replacement card within one business day. Plus, if you need a little extra security, American Express will offer up to S$350,000 of travel accident insurance on any trip you charge.

Extra Perks

Though its travel benefits are fantastic, this Singapore Airlines credit card offers a seemingly endless array of additional members-only perks. Save money on dining and shopping with the American Express Selects program, get a first-year fee waiver and request up to two supplementary cards for your family members. Do you make a lot of purchases over the weekend? You can get a 25 percent discount from participating merchants just by using your card on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. It’s all part of what makes this credit program so unbeatable. Take note, frequent travelers: If you’re looking for a widely accepted card with incredible mile-earning potential, the Singapore Airlines American Express is right up your alley.

This is a guest post by Natasha Rose, a finance writer who specialises in pensions, annuities and equity release.

Whilst you may sniff indignantly when your grandmother warns you to start saving now for your retirement as age creeps up on us all without warning and quicker than we think, deep down inside you know that your grandmother is right. The truth is that we are never too young to start thinking about what might now seem a like a million years away and start planning for a time when we are no longer able work.

Although women may be gaining greater equality within the workforce, in terms of increasing salaries so that they are more in-line with their male counterparts and gaining equal pension coverage, the need for retirement planning and saving among women has never been so imperative.

Take a look at the following modern woman’s guide to retirement.

Saving for retirement

Throughout our working years, we become accustomed to a certain lifestyle, which for many women, revolves around shopping, eating out and going for a drink with friends on a Friday night. With a disposable income to ‘play around with,’ the lifestyle which we now often take for granted is fairly easy to maintain.

Pensions are inevitably not so financially ‘lucrative’ as salaries and it is likely that the lifestyle you are enjoying now, in your twenties and thirties, you will still enjoy in your retirement years – minus perhaps the five-inch stilettos and five Tequila Slammers!

In order to have more money to enjoy our retirement and to be able to go shopping and have a drink – or perhaps afternoon tea – with friends and family, it is a wise precaution to start saving for your retirement now.

Changes in state pension

Earlier this year, the government announced plans to simplify to state pension by introducing a single-tier system. The widely anticipated changes to mean that everyone will be entitled to receive £144 a week so long as they have built up enough national insurance contributions. The second state pension that is currently in existence, which enables high earners to receive a second pension that is worth more than £150 on top of their state pension, will be effectively ruled out.

The government has said that the changes to the state pension will effectively mean that younger workers, by younger workers they mean those retiring in 2060, will be at least £2 worse off a week, due to the abolition of the second state pension.

Alongside the single-tier pension will be increases in the age people can qualify for the state pension. Between 2026 and 2028 the state pension age will increase to 67.

So what does all these statistics and politician jargon actually mean for the young women of today? The most significant point to remember here is that in order to qualify for the single-tier £144 a week pension, you will have had to have paid so many years national insurance contributions.

Part of the modern woman’s planning for their retirement should therefore include always paying national insurance contributions. Even during periods when you are out of work, you can still pay your national insurance ‘stamp,’ which as age is creeping up on all of us and policymakers are certainly not making life any easier for pensioners, would definitely be a good idea.

As the government warns by 2060 young workers will be £2 worse off, it is more imperative than ever that the earlier to start saving for our retirement, the better.

You’re on a sun-kissed beach with shimmering sand trailing down into the vibrant blue waters. This is the scene that we often compose in our dreams. Here are five Asian beach destinations where fantasies become real. Welcome to paradise.

Hainan
China, often overshadowed by its towering skyscrapers and famous attractions, leaves the country’s enormous coastline and outlying islands oft forgotten. Yalong Bay on Hainan Island is quickly changing that. People are starting to take note of this spectacular destination, with its consistent balmy weather and unparalleled beauty. The uncrowded, crescent-shaped beach allows for a private beachside experience. An ideal snorkeling locale, the clear waters provide a perfect viewing of the tropical fish and well-preserved coral reefs. Adjacent to the expansive beach are undulating hills and lush coconut groves begging to be explored.

Bali
Bali is blessed with an extensive amount of beaches, both internationally renowned tourist haunts and hidden marvels. Guarded by ancient temples built centuries ago, the popular Sanur Beach is optimal for tanning sunworshippers or for those cycling along the beachfront promenade at sunrise. Away from the vacationer area, you’ll have to embark on a mini-hike down a rocky path to arrive at the tucked away Bias Tugal Beach. Often deserted, the fine silvery sands give away to intense azure waters, reminiscent of the Mediterranean. One of the best-kept secrets of Bali, it’s definitely worth the exerted effort.

Phuket
With cloudless skies overarching crystal clear waters, Phuket holidays are always an exemplary option. Windy roads trace the coastline, charting easy paths to some of the finest beaches in the world. For those who enjoy a more frenetic pace, Patong has enough clubs and bars to keep the streets steamy throughout the night. For those wanting more of a low-key atmosphere, Kata Beach is a favorite choice, especially for families. Above the beach, a perfect sundowner experience awaits at Tiffin Mama, an exquisitely designed restaurant that showcases stunning vistas of the Andaman Sea.

Okinawa
In Okinawa, the vibe is laid-back and the pace slow. It’s no wonder that the locals tend to lead long, fulfilling lives. While visiting any of the idyllic and secluded Yaeyama Islands of South Japan is a certain treat, Ishigaki may be one of the most captivating. About an hour away from the city center, Sunset Beach, with its golden sands lapped by teal waters, comprises one of the most striking coastlines in all of Okinawa. For snorkelers, the pristine corals and rare blue reef is sure to delight. At some point, grab some authentic chanpuru, an Okinawan stirfry, and watch dusk descend across the waves.

Nha Trang
Nha Trang, located on Vietnam’s central coast, is the country’s premier beachside destination. A rich variety of aquatic activities such as scuba diving, kite boarding, and wind surfing will quench any desire. Out of the area’s six prominent beaches, Nha Trang Bay is widely regarded as the most stunning. The beach buzzes with action as people frolic and lounge around under the shining sun. A swath of verdant trees separate the beach from the numerous hotels and dining options on the landmark Tran Phu Street. For those needing a break from the sea and sand, climb up the steep stairs at the Long Son Pagoda leading up to the immense white Buddha that silently watches over the surroundings.

Signing up for a timeshare property is considered a legal binding contract. There are many bits and pieces to the document that need to be looked over before you sign anything.

When you purchase a piece of timeshare real estate, there is a period known as the “cooling off” period, where buyers can cancel their contracts and get their deposit returned. When this cooling off time is over, timeshare companies will have you believe that you cannot cancel the contract in the future, and you are therefore bound to pay all the demanding fee’s associated with it. People/buyers will then think that they only legal way to end these timeshare contracts is to either transfer the ownership by either selling it, giving it away or donating it.

If you are really looking to get relieved of your timeshare property, then you can go about it in a variety of ways.

Right Choice Transfer is a company that specialises in helping buyers sell their timeshare, and more importantly selling it for the best price possible.

If you decide to try and sell it on your own, then you will have to realise that you probably won’t get it sold for top dollar. In the majority of cases, they will sell at only 30% of their original price tag.

Finding a suitable broker who will act on your behalf is another option. They will have expert knowledge in this area and will advertise it in the correct channels. Make sure that you check out the fees and costs associated with these brokers prior to working with them.

Auctions are a last chance saloon when it comes to flocking your timeshare. Many buyers have put up an advert on ebay on sold it via that. You should look at other similar auctions online to see price tags and to get an idea of the way things work.

A lot of people regret ever buying a timeshare, and are now burdened with increasing maintenance fees and other hidden costs which they failed to spot initially.

Having a gorgeous apartment in an exotic location is all well and good when things are going well, financially. But you must consider the overall picture in the grand scheme of things. The economic crisis has left a bitter taste in peoples mouth and having to continually fork out money for a timeshare in a location you can’t even afford to travel to is the last straw.

Think wisely before you invest in a timeshare.

                        <img class="lightsocial_img" src="http://ourlifeinthed.com/wp-content/plugins/light-social/google_buzz.png" alt="Google Buzz (aka.

Under the right conditions, retiring in a foreign country can be an amazing life decision. There are endless reasons to consider settling down someplace new and exciting. One of the most popular destinations these days has become Panama. Here are five of the best things about retiring in this beautiful Central American country:

1. The people and culture
Panama straddles a sometimes fine line between different and exciting, and familiar and comforting. Those that choose to retire there can enjoy diverse cultural experiences, friendly people, and the laidback lifestyle that the locals adhere to. It is equally easy to make friends among the local and expat communities.

2. Cost of living
It’s easy to get by very easily on under $2500 a month in Panama. This kind of a budget will cover comfortable housing, eating out a maid, and regular nights out. If you plan well enough and create a retirement plan from a reputable and effective company like standardlife.ca, your savings and investments can make this dream a reality. Why pay so much more to live in a place that lacks the beauty, culture, and excitement of Latin America?

3. Nature
With endless coastline on both the Pacific and Caribbean sides of the country, the beach is an obvious draw. The weather is warm year-round, and storms are infrequent. In addition, there are rain forests, cloud forests, and excellent mountains for hiking. The government has taken an active approach towards preserving natural spaces and the country’s impressive biodiversity, and foreign retirees there are able to enjoy a lot of pristine vistas.

4. Pensioner’s Visa
Panama is doing everything it can to attract retirees, including instituting a popular visa program specifically on their behalf. With an inexpensive Pensionado visa, attaining residency is a fast and easy process, and discounts are offered all over the country for everything from health care to restaurants to movie tickets. Purchasing property is also streamlined for holders of this visa.

5. Ease of Life
While Spanish is the national language, English is widely-spoken. Panamanians use US dollars as their currency, and Panama City and other major centers are modern and comfortable. The health care system is excellent and inexpensive, and scores higher than the American one in many regards. Public transportation, access to airports and cruises, and everything else that you might need are all within easy reach.

It’s hard to do much better than Panama when it comes to making a choice to retire abroad. From the friendly people to the beautiful landscapes to the easygoing lifestyle, you’ll likely find yourself wishing that you had made the decision sooner.
